Meyyendiran graduated in Cinematography from the esteemed ‘Balu Mahendra film institute’. The Trailblazing legendary filmmaker Balu Mahendra was my mentor at the institution. After graduating i went on to collaborate with other emerging filmmakers and shot more than 25 short films, a few of which have gone on to feature in the popular reality show like ‘Naalaiya iyakkunar’ with prolific filmmakers like Vetrimaran in the panel. I proceeded to assist cinematographer Madhie in his feature films such as ' Jeeva ' , ' Srimanthudu ' , and then went on to work as an associate cinematographer on various projects. This led to the opportunity of collaborating with director Madhumita Sundararaman for the acclaimed film ‘ KD aka Karuppudurai ‘, which captures a rustic yet poetic journey of an old man and his uncanny friendship with an 8 year old boy set in backdrop of a south India village.
The film was nominated across film festivals and won several awards including the prestigious National award for the best child artist.The key element of capturing this moving tale was transporting the audience through the visuals into earthiness of the landscape as well as allowing them to feel as though they were peering through the life of this man as it unfolded, staging and framing with the use of the earth tones juxtaposed by pops of colours running through country side were used intentionally to allow this.
The next feature ’Sila nerangalil Sila manidhargal’ directed by Vishal Venkat is a simple yet heart warning film capturing lives of four individuals from different worlds brought together by an unforeseen incident. The approach for this film was to render each of the central character’s world to be strikingly different from another, captured through maintaining a dedicated tone, distinct framing and movement to give the audience unique experience shuttling between these stories.
His next collaboration was the film 'Kudimahaan’ a comic riot directed by Prakash, a story of a middle class man who is suddenly faced with unique medical condition. The anticipated upcoming project titled ‘Nuvem’ is director Madhumitha take on the acclaimed Malayalam film ‘Angamaly diaries’, staring Arjun Das and produced by the entertainment giants Abundantia Entertainment.
